Plot: Produced by actor Gordon Lam and Andy Lau's Focus Films, Derek Kwok and Clement Cheng's Gallants is an entertaining tribute film that revives old-school Hong Kong martial arts action in a 21st century context. Eschewing the new trend of cultural-based heroism defining contemporary Chinese action films, Gallants is a fun action-comedy about the old versus the new and the simple joys of getting into a good fight. The film features an eclectic mix of actors from two generations, with Shaw Brothers veteran Chen Kuan Tai, Bruce Leung, and a scene-stealing Teddy Robin leading the old, while Wong Yau Nam (Just One Look), MC Jin, and JJ Jia (La Lingerie) represent the new.
